Ironshore Capital, LLC is a management platform created to originate, underwrite, structure and manage the investments of Ironshore Partners. The operations of Ironshore Capital are managed by a team of 10 professionals with broad experience in real estate investment and development.

Kyle E. Meyer

Mr. Meyer is the President of Ironshore Capital. His career in the financial and real estate industries spans more than 30 years.

Mr. Meyer has been an active entrepreneur in real estate finance since 1993. From 2000-2007, he was the president and chief executive officer of BuilderFinancial Corp., a mezzanine lender to small to medium sized homebuilders in Florida and the Southeastern United States. In 1999, Mr. Meyer participated in the launch of “everbank.com,” a successful online commercial bank. From 1993-2000, Mr. Meyer was a pioneer in the online lending industry. He founded American Finance & Investment Inc. in 1993, recognized as the first company to originate a loan over the Internet and one of the early success stories in online lending.

Mr. Meyer also has considerable experience as a residential developer and builder. In 1984, Mr. Meyer and a partner purchased a Ryan Homes franchise in Northern Virginia. After successfully developing that franchise, Mr. Meyer sold his interest in 1988 and formed his own residential development and construction company, Chadwick American, Inc. Chadwick American’s metropolitan D.C. operations were sold in 1989 to a large New Jersey-based homebuilder. In 1990, Mr. Meyer and four partners started Chadwick International, Inc., a company that designed, exported and erected modular housing overseas.

Mr. Meyer started his career in the mid-1970’s with Merrill Lynch, specializing in public REIT’s and real estate limited partnerships. Mr. Meyer is a graduate of American University, holding a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Real Estate Finance.

Thomas W. Jeffrey

Mr. Jeffrey is the Executive Vice President of Ironshore Capital and oversees its day-to-day operations. He has broad experience in real estate finance, investment and operations, with a focus on complex investments and distressed situations.

In 2006-2007, Mr. Jeffrey worked with Mr. Meyer as executive vice president & chief operating officer of BuilderFinancial Corp. From 1999-2006, he was chief financial officer of American Ventures Realty Investors, Inc., a private real estate investment manager based in Coral Gables, Florida, investing in office and infill development projects.

From 1991-1999, Mr. Jeffrey was the senior vice president & general counsel, and later executive vice president & chief financial officer of Atlantic Gulf Communities Corporation, a Miami-based public company with large scale community development projects across the southeastern United States. Mr. Jeffrey led AGCC’s capital markets effort and served as chairman of its investment committee, a team that acquired, financed and managed the development of 25 large community development projects in five states over five years.

From 1987 - 1991, Mr. Jeffrey practiced law with the Washington, DC law firm of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering. His practice focused on mergers & acquisitions and creditors’ rights. Prior to that time, he served for two years as a judicial clerk to two federal judges. Mr. Jeffrey is a graduate of Western Michigan University and Wayne State University Law School, with a B.S. in Political Science and a J.D., cum laude.

Ironshore Capital’s management team includes three investment managers:


Paul Garland

Mr. Garland has over 25 years experience in commercial bank real estate lending and real estate development. 

Mr. Garland worked with Mr. Meyer and Mr. Jeffrey since March 2006 previously serving as executive vice president & chief lending officer of BuilderFinancial through December 2007 and with Ironshore since inception.  Prior positions held by Mr. Garland include:  senior vice president & regional director, Franklin Bank, ssb; senior vice president & regional director, Bank United (Texas); vice president & group manager, commercial real estate, SunTrust Bank, Orlando, N.A.; director – southeast region, Thomas and Associates, Inc. (developers of industrial and medical office buildings); associate, Frey Municipal Securities, Inc. (financial advisors to municipalities, authorities and highly regulated institutions); and vice president & area manager-commercial real estate, Barnett Bank of Central Florida, N.A.

Mr. Garland holds an M.B.A. from John B. Stetson University and a B.B.A. from Walsh College of Accountancy and Business Administration.  Mr. Garland is also a graduate of the Robert Morris Associates School of Commercial Banking.

John T. (Jack) Rodgers

Mr. Rodgers has been an investment manager with Ironshore Capital and BuilderFinancial since August 2002. In 1993, Mr. Rodgers co-founded and served as president of American Finance & Investment (see Kyle E. Meyer). He continued with AFI and its successors through its initial public offering as Mortgage.com in August 1999. Mr. Rodgers’ prior background includes two years as chief financial officer for a mortgage banking company in Northern Virginia, two years as a senior accountant with a small public accounting firm, one year as controller of a land development company and a year as an analyst with a venture capital firm. Mr. Rodgers is based in Vero Beach, Florida.

C. Bryan Wood

Mr. Wood draws upon more than 20 years of banking and building experience, including service as an investment manager with BuilderFinancial. He began his banking career with Barnett Bank in Florida, and later served as a real estate lender with The First National Bank of Atlanta and Wachovia Bank. In the 1990’s, he took a leave from banking for nine years to build homes in the Atlanta area.

Mr. Wood earned his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Mercer University. He works out of Ironshore Capital’s Atlanta office.

Jonathan B. Kearns

Mr. Kearns serves as the Company’s Controller, and held a similar position with BuilderFinancial Corp. Previously he served as the chief financial officer of Genapure Corporation, a private equity backed company in the environmental and pharmaceutical testing industry. For the ten years prior to joining Genapure, Mr. Kearns was the controller at several companies including a Texas-based international construction company. Mr. Kearns is a certified public accountant and graduate of Texas A&M University.

Frederic F. Faizon

Mr. Faizon has expertise in financial analysis of distressed situations. Prior to joining the Company he worked with Mesirow Financial Consulting in their bankruptcy and work-out group. He has earned an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island, an M.S. in Finance from Boston College, and an M.B.A. from Duke University.

Kevin Miliffe

Prior to joining Ironshore Capital, Mr. Miliffe served for two years as a financial analyst with Wachovia Capital Markets – Real Estate. He has a B.A., with honors, M.S. and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Florida.

Brent Clements

Mr. Clements joined the Company after working for nearly eight years with Bayview Financial, L.P., most recently as the underwriting manager for its Silver Hill Financial division. Prior to Bayview, he worked in various organizational and business process capacities for major corporations in the Chicago area. Mr. Clements was educated at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, New York University and Northwestern University.
